Attention!!  Updated information about your curbside recycling collection

RECYCLE PLASTICS #1 THROUGH #7 with single stream recycling!!

All NARROW NECKED SCREW TOP Plastic CONTAINERS are now collected!

Along with the added convenience of single stream recycling, Danville residents no longer have to worry about sorting out previously unacceptable plastics.  You may now place narrow necked screw top plastic containers stamped with any of the above listed symbols curbside for collection. There are certain exclusions that still exist such as plastic bags, Styrofoam and microwave food trays even though they may be numbered.

You may continue to place all your glass, metal, plastic, paper and cardboard curbside for collection in the same container.

Single Stream materials are sorted at a special facility and then recycled in their individual streams, simply stated…we’ll do all the sorting.

Your recycling will continue to be collected bi-weekly according to the new 2009-2010 recycling calendar recently mailed out.  This flyer inadvertently listed only #1 and #2 plastics and we apologize for any inconvenience.

Residents may still use a standard 36-gallon barrel for recycling (for easy identification you may also label this container as “Recycling”) or continue to use existing recycling bins.

An updated recycling chart has also been made available on the town of Danville’s website (www.townofdanville.org) which can help residents prepare their single stream recyclables and sort out any non-acceptable/contaminated items.
