POLICE DEPARTMENT

The Danville Police Department has begun using the popular social networking site Twitter, which we hope will help us keep in touch with the community in real time. Twitter allows us to post short 140-character blurbs, or “tweets” as they are known, which will alert residents to breaking news, police activity, announcements, and community concerns. Our “followers”, or subscribers, will be able to receive updates from the police department on their computers or through text messages on their cell phones. To join the Danville Police Department’s Twitter page, visit

http://twitter.com/DanvillePolice

There is no fee to join Twitter, however standard text messaging rates may apply. Please be sure to check with your cell phone service provider first.

HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT

Reminders from the Highway Department

Please remove all portable basketball hoops and other items along the road edge that do not belong there, we will not be held responsible for any damage that may occur to these items due to plowing.

KEEP YOUR RUBBISH CONTAINERS IN YOUR DRIVEWAY – THE RUBBISH TRUCK CAN REACH THEM EVEN IN YOUR DRIVEWAY. WE WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY CONTAINERS THAT MAY BE IN THE WAY DURING WINTER EVENTS.

Remember there is a parking ordinance that is in effect during all winter storms and ice events for at least 24 hours after the end of the storm. If you are clearing your driveway and see the plow truck coming please be considerate and move your vehicle to the other side of the road while we pass and return to your side so we can get by when we come back.

There is also an ordinance in effect that if you or whoever cleans your driveway cannot plow snow into the road or across the road. Please keep in mind that this carries a fine if found in violation.

Abiding to all the ordinances and rules helps save time and money for all.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the highway department at 382-0703. Thank you for your cooperation.

Stormwater Management

Please remember to watch the newspapers and other media for the Spring Household Hazardous Waste collection in Plaistow in May.

If you walk your pet or let them out in the yard, please remember to pick up pet waste as it gets into the ground water and causes all different types of bacteria.

CEMETERY

Remember the cemeteries are closed for burials from November 15th to April 15th. The cemeteries once it has snowed are also closed completely. Anyone visiting a loved ones grave does so at their own risk.
