Tax Collector

Town of Danville, NH is soliciting applications to fill the town’s Tax Collector position. This is a part-time elected position. The successful candidate must be a Danville resident and will be appointed by the Board of Selectmen for a term to end March, 2010 at which time the candidate can choose to run for the elected position.

  As Tax Collector, you will be responsible for collection (including property liens and deeding), reporting and proper accounting of municipal funds warranted through the Tax Collector’s Office. You’ll need a thorough and detailed understanding of applicable State Law and municipal accounting principles. You will supervise the Deputy Tax Collector and have extensive contact with citizens, attorneys, auditors, professional colleagues and Town Counsel.

The successful candidate should possess a working knowledge and have experience in accounting or business administration (or closely related field) with a minimum of five years of work experience. Municipal tax collection experience is preferred, but not necessary. Solid accounting and managerial experience is critical. The position requires the ability to be bonded and to quickly obtain New Hampshire Tax Collector Certification. Employment applications are required and may be obtained from the Selectmen’s office at the Danville Town Hall, 210 Main Street, or by calling Donna Sullivan, Selectmen’s Administrative Assistant, at 382-8253, ext 3. 

Salary: $20,800 per annum    Closing Date: April 20, 2009, at 4:00 p.m.
