CONSERVATION COMMISSION

 

MINUTES OF MAY 4TH, 2006

 

 

Present: Chris Giordano (Chairperson), Judy Jervis, Sheila Johannesen, Ron Comeau and Jason Holder.

 

 

1.      Approval of Minutes:  Sheila made a motion to approve the minutes of April 20th as amended.  Judy 2nd the motion.  The vote was unanimous.

 

 

2.      Easement Update- Judy said that she had not yet received the minutes from Audubon but will email Andrew.  Chris ask what is the next step needed by CC.  Judy said that Andrew was working with our comments and thoughts, will then draft up the easement and get back to the CC at that point. 

 

 

3.      Tree Tags- Chris spoke to the company about the tree tags.  He said that he thought that the DO NOT CUT wording should be placed on the outer edges of the tag.  He asked the CC thoughts on the tags set up.  CC agreed that the DO NOT CUT should be the eye focus of the tree tags.  Discussion of the presentation and date when the awards will be given followed.  The Board agreed to each donate $20.00 towards the gift certificates.  Each participate would receive a gift certificate and a letter of appreciation.  The two winners would also receive a tree tag with their drawing on it.  The CC is planning on June 1st meeting for the presentation award.  Ron will contact the school and follow up on this.  Sheila will get the gift certificates.

 

 

4.      Site walk-Downes- Chris said that there would be a site walk for the Downes 1 lot sub-division at 9:15am on May 7th.  Meeting will be at Colby and Cub Pond Road, dirt road.

 

 

5.      Winds over Winds- Sheila said she is still working on this.  She spoke to the Danville School principal, it is getting late for the school ending and they would like to do this in September.  Sheila said she will contact Hope, Wind Over Winds, and continue to make this happen for the school.  Chris suggested that we also do this next year and if possible around Earth Day.  Sheila will find out what is available when she speaks to Hope.

 

 

6.      CC Survey- Chris will contact them to see where they stand on the completion of the surveying.

 

 

7.      Correspondence/Mail

 

  1. UNH- Training Session September 5th to Nov. 14th 2006 tree steward & earth team natural resources volunteer program
  2. RPC- Matching Grant Applications, availability of planning assistance grant funds through RPC
  3. Northeast Land Trust Conference- June 9th-11th 2006 conference

 

8.      Old Home Days- Chris asked Jason about the Old Home Days trail walk plans.  Jason said he had been contacted and a “Land & Lake” walk has been scheduled.  This will be held on August 26th, 2006 at 2:00PM.  Chris asked if CC could help, Jason said everything was all set.

 

 

9.      Non-Public- Judy stated that since the discussion will involve consideration of potential land purchase.  Which, if discussed in public, might benefit a party whose interests are adverse to those of the general community, RSA 91-A:3II (d) should warrant a non-public session.  Jason 2nd the motion.  A role call by Chris as follows: Sheila responded yes, Ron responded yes, Jason responded yes, Judy responded yes, Chris responded yes.  The vote was unanimous.  Judy made a motion to adjourn the public meeting and to move to a non-public meeting.  Sheila 2nd the motion.  The vote was unanimous.

 

Sheila made a motion to adjourn.  Judy 2nd the motion.  The vote was unanimous and the meeting adjourned at 9:50PM.
