Present: Laura Games (Chairperson), Sheila Johannesen, Judy Jervis, Chris
Giordano and Jason Holder.
The
meeting was called to order at 7:30PM and was televised.
1.
Minutes of January 7th,
2004- The
minutes of January 7th, 2004 were reviewed by the Commission. Judy made a motion to accept the minutes as
written. Chris G. 2nd the
motion.
The vote was unanimous.
2.
Non-Public Session - The Commission elected to discuss potential land purchases. Laura suggested that since the discussion
would involve acquisition of real property, RSA 91-A should warrant a
non-public session. The Commission
agreed. Potential land/conservation
easement purchases were discussed.
3.
Conservation Website- Laura stated that Sandown
had a good website. Judy had printouts
of Sandown’s website and said that it had a lot of information that was easy to
maneuver though. The Commission
discussed other websites and ideas. Laura made a copy of Judy’s printouts and
left them for Shawn O’Neil to model something for the Commission’s own website.
4.
Proposed Cluster/Open Space- Chris G. said that Newton
(NH) has an open space zoning ordinance and gave each member a copy. The Commission will review the zoning
ordinance. This will be placed on the
next month’s agenda. Judy asked Chris
G. if Newton (NH) has one built already built out that we could look at? Chris G. said he did not know.
5.
March agenda- Laura reminded the
Commission that Mary Currier, from the Rockingham Conservation District will be
attending our March meeting.
6.
Selectmen Memo- The Selectmen have asked
all the Town Boards and Commissions to each put together a flyer. This is to
help educate the voters regarding what the Boards and Commissions do and to
encourage volunteerism. The flyers will be available for the election in
March. Laura had drafted a flyer and
the Commission discussed it. Laura will
send the flyer to the Selectmen.
7.
Trash dumping on Tuckertown
Rd.-Sheila
took some pictures of the trash dumping that has once again appeared at the
sandpit on Tuckertown Road. There were
old computers, TV’s, propane tanks, shot gun shells, broken beer bottles,
roofing materials and charred burned materials left from an apparent fire or
two. The Commission discussed the
problems and potential hazards. A
formal recommendation to close off Tuckertown Rd. until further notice was made
by the Commission. The board was also going to ask the Selectmen about the
signs to be posted. A formal letter
will be sent to the Selectmen advising them of this issue along with the
photos. (see attached photos)
8.
News/announcements/Mail- a. Conservation News Bulletin-Laura said that this is now
on email. She will continue to email it
to the Commission members. b. Environmental News c.

G. made a motion to adjourn. Jason 2nd
the motion. The vote was unanimous and
the meeting adjourned at 9:15PM.
