CONSERVATION COMMISSION
MINUTES OF MAY 7TH, 2003
Present: Laura Games (Chairperson), Judy Jervis, Chris Stafford, Chris Giordano and Sheila Johannesen.
The meeting was called to order at 7:30PM and was not televised.
MAIL/ANNOUNCEMENTS/DISCUSSIONS
CLUSTER HOUSING- Chris G. said that the Planning Board is going to form a sub-committee to work on the cluster housing ordinance. Chris G. said that they also want to educate the public on this more. Laura asked Chris G. again to bring a copy of what was proposed the last time. Chris G. said he would.
CONSERVATION EASMENTS- Rockingham Land Trust- Chris S. said that he had received some information by email in regards to the Rockingham Land Trust. Chris S. said that they do Conservation Easements with towns and private landowners. Right now they have about 2,000 acres that they manage in trust and are negotiating with another 750 acres. Chris S. explained that some costs might be attorney fees, surveys required and environment review of hazardous waste. There is an example in the email that Chris S. received from Brian Hart, Rockingham Land Trust of a Conservation Easement. Laura asked Chris S. to email it to her. Chris S. will email this information to the Commission. Laura said that what she would like to do with everyone’s information is to put it all together, then give it to the Selectmen to review also. Bear Paw- Judy said she checked into Bear Paw and the information referred her back to Center for Land Conservation Assistance. New Hampshire Audubon Society-Judy said she checked into NH Audubon Society and that the information led her back to the Rockingham Land Trust. Judy said that the NH Audubon does hold easements but wildlife significant. Sheila and Laura are still working on their assignments and will try to have them ready for the next meeting.
APPOINTMENTS-Chris S. made a motion to accept all three re-appointments. Chris G. 2nd the motion. The vote was unanimous. The three re-appointments are Judy Jervis, Chris Giordano and Chris Stafford.
NH ASSOCIATION OF CONSERVATION COMMISSIONS- Laura made copies of the new Conservation News Bulletin for each member.
WORKSHOPS-EXPOSITIONS- a. Watershed Ecology Workshop b. NH Old House & Barn Exposition
MINUTES OF APRIL 16,2003- Chris S. made a motion to accept the minutes as read. Sheila 2nd the motion. The vote was unanimous.
Sheila made a motion to adjourn. Chris G. 2nd the motion. The vote was unanimous. The meeting adjourned at 8:30PM.
