CONSERVATION COMMISSION

MINUTES OF JUNE 6,2001

Present: Laura Games (Chairperson), Chris Giordano, Judy Jervis, and Michelle Tingley.

The meeting was called to order at 7:30PM and was televised.

Bruce Caillouette, Town Road Agent, was acknowledged by Laura attending the meeting. He explained that he has 2 Minimum Impact Expedited Applications permits that he needed some assistance on. They were for the locations of Hillside and Beech Plain Road culverts. Laura said that she would take some pictures for Bruce and help him fill out the applications.

The minutes of May 2,2001 were reviewed by the Commission. Chris G. made a motion to accept the minutes as amended. Judy 2nd the motion. The vote was unanimous.

  1. Memorandum to Danville Forest Committee-Laura read the memo to the Commission that the Commission agreed to send to the Forest Committee. She said that it was also cc’d to the Danville Board of Selectmen, Danville Planning Board and the Danville Heritage Commission. The memo was in regards to the request for funds from the Conservation Fund to develop a Forest Management Plan. (see attached copy of memorandum dated May 3,2001)

  3. Brown Hill Road-Chris G. said that he looked at the site in question and it looked ok. This site is in Hampstead not Danville. Laura thanked Chris G. for checking this out and it was noted that this was not in our town.

  5. Land & Community Heritage (LCHIP)- Laura read an urgent update on LCHIP funding email that she received. She explained that the Senate was considering not funding the LCHIP program. She stated that after reading this that she wrote to our Senator, Jack Barnes, and also called and spoke to him about supporting the LCHIP program. Laura read the letter that she sent to Jack Barnes, Senator. Jack sent a letter of appreciation of support, which Laura read. (see attached letters)

  7. Expedited Seasonal Dock Notification-The Commission reviewed and discussed the application for 283 Long Pond Road. Chris G. noted that there was a list of procedure on the application. Judy suggested that the Commission look at the site as they do to with everything else. The Commission will sign off on the application and follow it up. Laura will also check with the Town Building Inspector to see what steps the building inspector takes after the application.
  8. Several Upcoming Natural Resources Grants Available to Communities- Laura made a copy for the Commission to review. This is for grants that will be available. Judy asked how much money we had in our budget? Laura said that we have $800.00. The Commission discussed the different grants available. Laura suggested the wetlands evaluation program that we started and the possibility of UNH students helping out. Chris asked if the Commission could get Frank Mitchell to come back again? Laura said that she would like the members to do this evaluation program on our own and maybe have Frank look at the maps when we finished. (see attached)

  10. Next Meeting Re-Scheduled- Due to the holiday; the next regularly scheduled meeting will be changed from July 4th to July 10th.
  11. Conservation News Bulletin-Laura gave out a copy to the Commission members.

  13. Rockingham Planning Board Annual Dinner- On June 28th, 2001 the RPC annual dinner will be held at Ashworth By The Sea restaurant.

  15. Volunteer Working For Wildlife- A free 3 day workshop

  17. Property Title Question-Map 1,Lot-49 (Parcel 2) Historic District-The Commission received a letter from the Heritage Commission in regards to this. Laura explained the letter to the Commission.

  19. Article from the Union Leader (dated May 22,2001, page B3)- Sheila, the clerk, brought in an article titled "Candia’s refusal to allow cutting of trees along scenic road upheld." Laura spoke about the article and the court decision. (see attached)

Chris G. made a motion to adjourn. Michelle 2nd the motion. The vote was unanimous. The meeting adjourned at 9:20PM.
